The Company is a growing international producer and distributor recognized for product quality, operational capability, and disciplined growth. We are seeking an accomplished financial leader to support senior management by providing robust financial reporting, operational insight, and strong controls in support of continued expansion.

 

Title: Controller

Reports To: Vice-President of Finance

 

Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for oversight of the Company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and cost accounting functions across multiple California-based locations and production facilities. The position ensures that financial systems, reporting, and analytical outputs effectively support operational and executive decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate documentation of financial transactions and workflows.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor cost accounting and standard costing methodologies across production operations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP; provide management with financial analysis and variance reporting.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes; monitor performance against plan and report results to senior management.
  • Oversee government, statutory, and regulatory reporting requirements to ensure full compliance.
  • Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures to support scalability and operational discipline.
  • Manage, develop, and evaluate accounting staff; promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Information Technology to ensure financial and operational systems are stable, reliable, and aligned with business requirements.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and production/manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP/accounting systems and process optimization initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong writing skills.
  • Strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with operational and executive leadership.
  • Professional, proactive, and hands-on leadership style with a focus on rigor, and results.
  • This is a full-time, on-site role, not remote/hybrid.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: DOE Target $140K-$160K/yr
