About the Role
The Controller is responsible for leadership, direction and coordination of the overall day to day operations of accounting for various operations within the organization; ensuring timely, accurate and consistent reporting; maintaining and improving general policies and procedures; and the safeguarding of company assets while being a champion for the department and company overall.
The Controller will also travel to properties to assist accounting departments as needed to subsidize the department’s staff, provide additional training, and setup new departments or procedures as needed which could be for extended periods of time.
Essential Functions:
- Provides exceptional guest service to all customers both external and internal.
- Responsible for creating a path to success for the team by developing team knowledge and abilities through training, mentoring, teamwork, and collaboration.

- Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Ensures company accounting policies and procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and are consistent with gaming laws, gaming regulations and company internal controls.
- Assists with establishing and maintaining internal control procedures and structures to safeguard company assets.
- Plans, directs and organizes accurate and timely reporting of forecasting and financial information.
- Review for ways to improve accuracy and efficiency in processes and reporting
- Coordinates and manages the month-end close process through financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Ensures compliance and timely payment of all gaming taxes and regulatory fees, sales & use tax, and other applicable reporting requirements.
- Reviews and approves financial transactions and reconciliations, and fluctuations in revenues, expenses and inventory to ensure integrity of the operation.
- Reviews and approves AP check runs and transfer of funds.
- Coordinates and manages applicable areas of quarterly and year-end audits and applicable internal audits, including work paper preparation.
- Under the direction of the Finance Director, leads and directs Accounting related functions and staff.
- Manage and lead Income Audit function and staff, ensuring daily audits, reconciliations and filings are processed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Provides ad-hoc management reporting and participates in in ad-hoc finance projects as directed.
- Must possess a strong financial accounting knowledge including consolidated reporting
- Proficient in Excel, ERP systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time as needed to assist other locations with subsidizing the team when staff is short as well as training on new processes or new departments as needed to help strengthen and develop that team.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree
- Minimum of 3 years prior experience of accounting department leadership.
- Must possess strong financial accounting knowledge. Casino experience and knowledge are desired, including Income Audit.
- Experience with and knowledge of federal/state/local reporting requirements.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize accordingly
- Strong computer skills including Excel and ERP systems (accounting software)
- Ability to solve problems and/or make recommendations for solving problems depending on the situation.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead by example and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Must be a self-starter with the desire to own the position and desire to continue to learn and improve personally in the position
Job Type: Full-time with 80 hours of Paid Time Off upon hire
