New Controller role available with a beloved local non-profit organization. In this role, you will own day-to-day financial operations, leading month end close, grant and fund accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and serve as a key finance partner across the organization. To be a fit, you should bring 5-7+ years of accounting experience including non-profit industry experience being a must. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven organization with a meaningful local organization.


Location: Hybrid 2-3 days/week in office in central Portland, OR.


Compensation: $100-110k base target with some flexibility for more experience

  • 3 weeks vacation (grows to 6 weeks) + 1 week sick time
  • 14 Holidays
  • Retirement: 5% employer contribution
  • M/D/V – 80% employer covered


In this role, you will:

  • Oversee a small accounting team, and own General Ledger/month end
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and serve as a financial business partner to department leaders
  • Manage cash flow, AP, AR, and payroll distribution oversight
  • Lead grant accounting, fund accounting, and consolidated financials
  • Serve as point of contact for the annual audit and S-133 Single Audit
  • Manage banking, treasury, and liquidity planning
  • Build and improve financial processes and infrastructure from the ground up


Your background should include:

  • 5-7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Non-profit accounting experience is required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • A builder's mindset, comfort stepping into ambiguity and creating structure
  • CPA and/or MBA highly desired, or equivalent experience
