A bit about us:
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our manufacturing facility in Louisville, Kentucky. This role has full ownership of the accounting function, including financial reporting, cost accounting, audit coordination, and compliance with GAAP.
The Controller partners closely with site leadership to provide accurate financial insight, manage banking relationships, and ensure disciplined month-end and year-end close processes. This position leads a small accounting team and plays a key role in strengthening financial controls and operational efficiency within a fast-paced, blue-collar manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, and invoicing
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Support external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Handle corporate tax filings and coordinate with external advisors as needed
Maintain and manage banking relationships and cash flow activities
Implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
Utilize and optimize Great Plains accounting software for financial operations
Supervise and develop a team of 5–6 employees (AP Clerk, AR Manager, Staff Accountant, invoicing staff)
Collaborate with operations to support cost accounting and inventory management

Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing
Manage month-end and year-end close processes with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Lead external audit activities and ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements
Manage corporate tax filings and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed
Oversee cash management activities and maintain banking relationships
Establish, maintain, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
Utilize and optimize Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains to support accounting and reporting operations
Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 5 to 6 accounting staff, including AP, AR, invoicing, and staff accounting roles
Partner with operations to support cost accounting, inventory management, and overall manufacturing financial performance
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA certification preferred
5 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Cost accounting experience is a plus
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Experience managing audits and working with external auditors
Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains highly preferred
Strong tenure with clear evidence of career stability
Ability to work onsite full-time in Louisville, Kentucky
Comfortable operating in a hands-on, operational, blue-collar manufacturing environment
