MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
  • Hands-on approach with a 'roll-up-your-sleeves' mindset, suitable for a smaller company environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is beneficial.
  • Experience in manufacturing cost accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidation and/or inter-company transactions is a plus.

Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, cash management, and internal control systems. The role ensures accurate tracking of spending and reporting of customer contract performance through adherence to accounting regulations and standards. The Controller will provide strategic financial insights to support pricing, EVA, ESOP allocations, and operational excellence initiatives while fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely financial reporting for management and the owners.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes by working with business units or Plant Managers to develop the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Oversee cash flow and working capital management, including monitoring cash balances, forecasting liquidity needs, and managing auditor and bank relationships.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable standards such as GAAP.
  • Conduct financial analysis to analyze trends, variances, and unit cost drivers, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Supervise an Accountant, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with tax filings, regulatory requirements, and audit preparations, and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Collaborate closely with the owner/leadership team to support strategic planning, business performance reviews, investment decisions, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Drive accounting system improvements, streamline processes, and increase automation as appropriate for business size.
  • Manage vendor and customer setup in QuickBooks Online.
  • Track, update, and balance accrual accounts.
  • Ensure daily bank matches to QuickBooks and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Serve as a backup for ensuring appropriate daily cash flow and intercompany transfers for each entity are completed on time.
  • Review timesheets/rates for work related to a project and verify against invoices.
  • Adapt responsibilities as the company grows.

This is a Permanent position based out of La Salle, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $62.50/hr.
