Controller

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our organization based in Dubuque, IA. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who can drive financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations and accounting processes
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements
• Manage budgeting and forecasting activities
• Monitor financial performance and provide actionable insights
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff
• Collaborate with auditors and internal/external stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Strong expertise in accounting principles, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Solid understanding of regulatory compliance and internal control frameworks
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
• Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA or CMA certification preferred
• Prior experience in banking or credit union industry is a plus
