We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives for a rapidly growing professional services organization. This individual will play a key role in supporting continued expansion, strengthening financial infrastructure, and ensuring operational excellence across a multi-entity environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with experience managing complex accounting functions, supporting organizational growth, and partnering closely with executive leadership. This role requires a balance of technical accounting expertise, operational leadership, and the ability to drive scalable processes.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, account reconciliations, consolidations, and month-end close.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting procedures.
  • Prepare financial statements, management reporting packages, and key business analyses.
  • Support audit, tax, and regulatory compliance activities.

Business Growth & Integration Support

  • Assist with accounting and financial activities related to business expansion initiatives.
  • Support the integration of acquired or newly incorporated operations, including alignment of processes, reporting, and controls.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors on transaction-related accounting matters.
  • Help establish repeatable processes to support future growth initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner cross-functionally to provide financial insights that support decision-making and operational performance.
  • Participate in system implementations, enhancements, and process automation efforts.

Treasury & Financial Operations

  • Support cash management, forecasting, and banking activities.
  • Assist leadership with liquidity planning and financial risk management.
  • Improve visibility into cash flow and working capital performance.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
  • Establish clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Foster collaboration across accounting, finance, and operational teams.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing accounting operations within a multi-entity environment.
  • Demonstrated success improving processes and building scalable accounting functions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting growth-oriented organizations.
  • Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or other strategic transactions.
  • Experience working with distributed or geographically diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
