Controls Engineer

Location: San Antonio, TX

Pay Rate: $55/hour


Position Overview

  • A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Controls Engineer to support stamping production engineering operations in San Antonio, TX. This role will focus on the planning, design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment, including stamping and laser welding systems.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial automation, Siemens PLC programming, and equipment commissioning, and will work closely with engineering teams, equipment vendors, and maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and reliable production processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, installation, and startup of new and modified manufacturing equipment within stamping and automated production environments.
  • Collaborate with OEM vendors and commissioning teams to ensure equipment is installed and configured according to engineering specifications.
  • Develop and maintain Siemens PLC programs using Step 7.
  • Support servo drive programming using Siemens Simotion and Scout software.
  • Configure and maintain HMI systems for automated production equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for automated production lines, including laser welding and stamping equipment.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation for equipment operation and modification.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and maintenance technicians to support equipment improvements and production reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and equipment performance.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring tasks are completed within defined timelines.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC programming using Step 7.
  • Experience with Siemens Simotion servo drive programming using Scout software.
  • Experience developing or supporting HMI programming for automated equipment.
  • Experience with industrial equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented engineering environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical projects simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of manufacturing production systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with laser welding or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with industrial automation and ladder logic programming.
