💰 $45.50/hour

📅 Assignment Length: Approximately 5.5 months

⏱️ Full-Time: 40 hours per week

A respected legal organization is seeking a licensed Attorney to support its Complaint Review Unit (CRU) on a full-time, contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional with strong analytical and writing skills, particularly in reviewing investigative materials and identifying potential regulatory issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Review investigative files to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper case closure
• Identify legal and ethical issues, including those implicating attorney disciplinary rules
• Conduct legal and factual research related to case findings
• Draft correspondence to complainants and attorneys regarding case outcomes
• Communicate directly with complainants as needed

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in CA (required)
• Experience drafting motions, legal memoranda, and/or appellate briefs
• Prior experience as a judicial clerk, court staff attorney, or similar role involving legal writing
• Background supporting investigations (e.g., compliance, regulatory, or workplace investigations)
• Public agency experience is a plus

Preferred Experience

• 2+ years of attorney experience, ideally in a litigation or regulatory environment
• Experience with complex document review may be considered in lieu of traditional practice experience

Additional Requirements

• Must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the assignment
• Candidates must not be current or former members of CalPERS
