Midwest Foods is a wholesale food distributor providing top quality food products to numerous food establishments in Chicago, surrounding suburbs, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana. Family owned and run company for two generations, we import fruits & vegetables from all over the country and other parts of the world to distribute these products to local markets. We are looking to complement our growth by hiring a Contract Sales Associate.
The Contract Sales position is an important part of the Sales Operations team at Midwest Foods. This role supports our national and managed business accounts succeed. They ensure new accounts are set up, onboarded, and ready to place orders, acting as a link between our sales team and other departments.
This role focuses on clear communication and execution. This role serves as the primary liaison for each step in the new account process, from setup to the first order. This role also works closely with the Director of Sales Operations to maintain high standards of service and efficiency for both customers and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
· Coordinate all internal processes for establishing new and existing business accounts, ensuring data accuracy and timely documentation.
· Monitor onboarding progress to ensure first orders are successfully placed and processed.
· Engage proactively with internal departments to address setup issues or delays.
· Serve as the primary internal contact for the sales team concerning account status, product details, pricing, and order inquiries.
· Occasionally provide administrative and operational support to sales representatives, enabling them to focus on growth, retention, and service.
· Prepare, update, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports on new accounts, onboarding progress, order activity, and departmental performance.
· Ensure dashboards and tracking tools accurately reflect account health and operational performance.
· Identify trends, inefficiencies, and recurring issues in the onboarding processes.
· Partner with internal departments to streamline onboarding, reporting, and communication workflows.
· Provide recommendations and feedback to leadership to improve internal systems, tools, and reporting processes.
· Ensure a seamless handoff from the sales team to internal operations, guaranteeing new accounts transition smoothly into regular ordering customers.
· Proactively follow up on pending account setups or missing information to prevent onboarding delays.
· Support sales initiatives, seasonal launches, and new product introductions with accurate and timely internal coordination.
· Maintain a strong understanding of Midwest Foods’ product lines, categories, and national account programs.
· Provide accurate documentation and maintain communication notes in CRM and ERP systems.
· Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing sales operations culture focused on teamwork, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
· 3 plus years’ experience in related professional experience in food/hospitality, service and/or inside sales
· Proficient Microsoft Office packages
· Experience with CRM or any other cloud-based programs recommended
· Excellent time management and prioritization skills
