Job Title: Construction Quality Engineer
Job Location: St. Louis, MO (100% On-site)
Job Duration: 6+ Months Contract (Possibility of extension)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Construction Quality Engineer (QA/QC) to support an $80M brownfield expansion project within an active facility environment. This role is strictly focused on construction quality (not manufacturing QA) and involves ensuring that all work performed by the General Contractor meets engineering specifications, code compliance, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong field inspection experience across multiple construction disciplines and the ability to identify quality issues directly on-site.
Project Overview:
- Brownfield expansion across 3 existing facilities
- Construction started: October 2024 | Completion: October 2026
- Scope includes:
- 4 Process & Analytical Development Labs
- 2 Quality Labs
- 1 GMP Warehouse
- 3 Ultracold Freezer Facilities
- 2 Manufacturing Suites (flammables & potent materials)
- Cleanrooms, new production lines, and system installations
- Reuse of existing utilities and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and support QA/QC plans for construction activities
- Perform field inspections to verify adherence to:
- Engineering drawings and specifications
- Building codes and regulatory requirements
- Review construction quality across all disciplines:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP)
- Fire Protection
- Civil / Structural
- Architectural (fit & finish)
- Identify and document non-conformances (NCRs) and support resolution
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for quality issues
- Review:
- Inspection reports
- Material submittals
- Quality documentation
- Coordinate with General Contractor (GC) to address quality concerns
- Track progress using construction schedules and ensure quality alignment
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of all quality activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
- 8–10+ years of construction QA/QC experience (must be in construction)
- Strong experience with:
- Field/site inspections
- Reading engineering drawings / blueprints
- Multi-discipline construction (MEP, structural, architectural)
- Experience working on active construction sites (brownfield preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and code compliance
- Ability to work independently in a field-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, or GMP environments
- Exposure to cleanroom or lab construction projects
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality standards
- Certifications such as CQE or QMP
