Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Engineer to support utility infrastructure projects within a heavy industrial / commercial construction environment. This individual will play a key role in project planning, execution, and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project teams to develop:
- Project scope, cost estimates, and schedules
- Detailed construction plans and outage requirements
- Conduct site visits and field assessments to validate scope
- Support development of project schedules, including critical path analysis
- Identify required permits and develop detailed project estimates
- Coordinate with Utility Company major accounts group on outages impacting customers
- Develop and manage construction bid packages:
- Lead pre-bid meetings
- Review contractor proposals and support vendor selection
- Participate in constructability reviews across disciplines:
- Site, foundation, electrical, relay, and transmission line
- Perform quality assurance checks throughout construction
- Monitor project progress against in-service dates
- Ensure adherence to utility procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety standards
- Manage contract closeout and ensure completion of as-built documentation
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial or commercial construction
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Strong knowledge of:
- Construction practices, techniques, and quality standards
- Applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- OSHA and environmental regulations
- Experience with construction contracts and labor agreements
- Ability to coordinate with contractors, vendors, engineers, and cross-functional teams
- Working knowledge of rigging and lifting methods
