Job Title: Construction Materials Technician (CMT)

Job Description

We’re looking for a reliable and detail‑oriented Construction Materials Technician to support field and laboratory testing for commercial, industrial, and government projects. In this role, you’ll perform hands‑on inspections, collect samples, run standardized tests, and document results to ensure construction materials meet project specifications and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
  • Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
  • Conduct on‑site inspections to verify compliance with county, state, and federal codes.
  • Prepare clear and accurate daily reports, test results, and documentation for project teams.
  • Communicate findings to engineers, contractors, and supervisors in a professional manner.
  • Assist with coordinating equipment, samples, and testing schedules as needed.
  • Support safety efforts and follow all company and site‑specific safety procedures.
  • Work independently or alongside other technicians on assigned project tasks.
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and operation.
  • Provide support to senior staff and engineers on project‑related tasks.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; A.S. or B.S. in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or Construction Management is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical work, or inspections preferred (but open to training strong entry‑level candidates).
  • Certifications such as ACI, ICC, NCDOT, NICET, or CWI are highly valued.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working outdoors on active construction sites.
Additional Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience with soils, concrete, or asphalt testing.
  • Familiarity with field reporting software or digital documentation tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Work Environment

This role involves a mix of fieldwork on active construction sites and office/lab time for reporting and testing. You’ll work closely with field personnel, engineers, and project teams while gaining hands‑on experience with a variety of project types. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensboro, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
