What You’ll Do

  • Perform field and laboratory testing to ensure construction materials meet project specifications.
  • Conduct soil testing, including grain size analysis, Atterberg Limits, moisture‑density testing, hydrometers, and resistivity testing.
  • Test aggregates for grain size, specific gravity, and unit weight.
  • Perform concrete testing, including compressive and flexural strength tests, sampling, air content, unit weight, and trial batches.
  • Observe and document batch plant operations.
  • Conduct Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) testing, including burn and gradation analysis, Rice testing, and specific gravity.
  • Test masonry units for absorption and compressive strength.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and engineers to support quality control and project success.

What You Bring

  • Interest or experience in construction, engineering, materials testing, or fieldwork.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in a hands‑on environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACI, ICC, or NICET certifications (or interest in obtaining them—training support available).
  • 2–3+ years of experience in CMT, inspections, or materials testing.
  • Experience with soils, concrete, asphalt, or masonry testing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
