About this Role

Job Summary

TheSkilled Laborer performs a variety of field construction and maintenance tasks under the supervision of higher-level employees.Work involvesassistingcrews with general labor, equipment operation, jobsite preparation, and supporting extra workload, absences, and vacations, as well as unusual changes in the production area or weather conditions. The position is primarily outdoors and requires clothingappropriate forchanging seasons and weather conditions.Travelingout of town to work on remote job sites may berequiredas directed by management. Skilled Laborers are classified into three levels—Skilled Laborer I, II, and III—based on experience, skillproficiency, and ability to work independently.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

Skilled Laborer I – Entry Level

  • Performs general labor and support tasks under close supervision.

  • Cleans and lubricates equipment as directed,maintainsthe work area free from debris, and readies or puts away tools as assigned.

  • Closely follows directions; holds or supplies materials and tools.

  • Performs anyunskilledjob on the project.

  • Operates basic hand and power tools safely as trained.

  • Participates in daily safety briefings/meetings and follows all safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Reports any issues, hazards, or incidents to the supervisor or higher-level employeeimmediately.

  • Is present at the beginning of the assigned shift and at the job site location as scheduled.

  • Assistswith extra workload, covering absences, and supporting crews as needed.

  • Successfully completes basic operator and/or task qualifications asidentifiedby the supervisor.

  • May berequiredto work some weekends and nights, when needed.

  • Travelout of town during the week and/or weekends to remote job sites whenrequired.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skilled Laborer II – Intermediate Level

  • Performs all duties of SkilledLaborer Iwith increased independence and skill.

  • Performs anyunskilledjob on the project and mayassistwith minor skilled work as directed.

  • Assistswith minor equipment operation, maintenance, and material handling.

  • Cleans and lubricates equipment,maintainswork areas free from debris, and readies/puts awaytools as assigned.

  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Motionsequipment operators andassistswith alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.

  • Participates in daily safety briefings/meetings and consistently follows safety guidelines,demonstratingsafe work practices.

  • Reports any issues or concerns to the supervisor or higher-level employee promptly.

  • Successfully completes basic operator and/or task qualifications asidentifiedby the supervisor.

  • Responds to changing jobsite needs related to workload, weather, or scheduling andsupportthe crew accordingly.

  • Demonstrates safe work practices and mayprovideinformal guidance to SkilledLaborer Iemployees.

  • May berequiredto work some weekends and nights, when needed.

  • Travelout of town during the week and weekends to remote job sites asrequired.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must be 18 years of age.

Qualifications

  • Skilled Laborer I – Entry Level:Entry-level; on-the-job training provided by department trainer.

  • Skilled Laborer II – Intermediate Level: Minimum of2,000 hoursmeeting or exceeding

  • Skilled Laborer III – Advanced Level:Minimum of3,000 hoursmeeting or exceeding all Skilled Laborer II (Laborer II) requirements.

Education & Certifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 10 safety trainingrequired:

  • For Skilled Laborer I and II: Must complete OSHA 10 within30 daysof hire if not already held.

  • For Skilled Laborer III: Must have completed OSHA 10 safety training prior to or at promotion to this level.

  • Driver’s License: Valid state driver’s licenserequired.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and dust.

  • Work is performed at various construction and maintenance sites, including remote locations.

  • Frequent travel to remote sites and occasional overtime or weekend work.

  • Mustalways wear company-required PPE, including hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibilityvest, and steel-toed boots. Additional PPE (hearing protection, respiratory gear, etc.) may be required depending on the task or jobsite conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing and walking.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull50-poundloads.

  • Manual dexterity tooperatea variety of hand and power tools.

  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical jobsite noise, dust, and odors.

  • Physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete tasks in various field environments.
