Construction Laborer $19/hour to $21/hour HIRING IMMEDIATELY!

Job Description

This role supports journeyman-level carpenters in building and finishing concrete forms for civil underground structures such as culverts, pipes, and other utility-related components. The laborer works in a hybrid indoor/outdoor precast concrete manufacturing facility, helping to produce concrete products for construction sites across the Midwest while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area. The shift runs Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Assist journeyman-level carpenters in building concrete forms for civil underground concrete structures, including culverts, pipes, and other underground utility components.
  • Support the setup, assembly, and adjustment of rough and finish carpentry formwork according to project requirements.
  • Pour concrete into forms, ensuring proper placement and distribution.
  • Smooth and finish concrete surfaces to meet quality and specification standards.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.
  • Assist in reading and interpreting basic blueprints or layout instructions as directed by high level carpenters.
  • Perform general construction cleanup, including removing debris, organizing materials, and maintaining a tidy work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working in an active precast concrete manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production timelines and quality expectations for precast concrete products.
  • Support other construction-related tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction or a related trade environment.
  • Ability to assist with carpentry tasks, particularly in concrete form building.
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in construction and carpentry.
  • Capability to pour, smooth, and finish concrete under guidance.
  • Comfort working from basic blueprints or layout instructions with direction.
  • Willingness and physical ability to perform general construction cleanup and manual labor tasks.
  • Reliability to work a consistent Monday–Friday schedule starting at 7:00 AM.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in rough carpentry is a strong plus.
  • Experience in finish carpentry, drywall, or related carpentry disciplines is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with concrete work in a precast or field construction setting is advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a hybrid indoor/outdoor precast concrete manufacturing facility that produces concrete products for various construction sites across the Midwest. Work takes place around active production equipment, concrete forms, and construction materials, requiring consistent attention to safety and situational awareness. The schedule is Monday through Friday with a 7:00 AM start time, and the work is physically active, involving standing, lifting, and manual labor in varying weather conditions when outdoors. Appropriate workwear suitable for a construction and manufacturing setting is expected, including clothing and footwear that support safety and comfort on the production floor and in outdoor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
