Job Title: Construction Technician

Job Description

The Construction Technician supports a wide range of installation activities on new construction projects, including mechanical, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical-related tasks. You will install various materials such as ductwork, large walk-in freezers, grease hoods, cabinets, countertops, lighting, and wall panels while working as part of a small field crew. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, solid construction experience, and the ability to travel to project sites, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Install a variety of construction materials and systems, including ductwork, large walk-in freezers, grease hoods, cabinets, countertops, lighting, and wall panels in new construction environments.
  • Perform a wide range of construction tasks across multiple trades, including carpentry, HVAC, flooring, and general installation work as project needs require.
  • Support both front-half construction phases such as carpentry, cooler builds, and ductwork installation, and back-half phases such as electrical, low-voltage work, and final installations, depending on skill set and assignment.
  • Use power tools and basic hand tools safely and effectively to complete installations and general construction tasks.
  • Accurately read and interpret a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch to ensure precise measurements and quality installations.
  • Assist with reading and interpreting blueprints to understand project requirements, layouts, and installation specifications.
  • Work closely with a crew of approximately five team members to coordinate tasks, maintain workflow, and meet project deadlines.
  • Travel to and from various project sites, including overnight stays, and adapt to changing locations and schedules as required by project timelines.
  • Follow all site safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to supervisors or project leads to help keep projects on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in the construction field in a new construction setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform tasks across multiple construction disciplines such as carpentry, HVAC, flooring, and general installation.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of power tools and basic hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites, including overnight travel, as required.
  • Ownership of personal power tools and basic hand tools suitable for construction and installation work.
  • Experience with installation work such as ductwork, industrial installations, and general construction tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew in a fast-paced new construction environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Blueprint reading skills to interpret project plans and installation requirements.
  • Experience in HVAC installation, including ductwork installation and related mechanical systems.
  • Exposure to electrical and low-voltage work in a construction setting.
  • Background in general labor or industrial construction environments.
  • Flexibility to work across different phases of construction, from rough-in and structural work to finishing and final installation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
