Position: Construction Assistant Project Manager
Location: On-Site (Travel as Needed)
Overview
A growing construction team is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to help manage project financials, coordination, and overall execution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow within a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in overseeing project financials, risk management, and client communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborate with Superintendents, field teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution
- Maintain and organize project documentation, ensuring accurate and timely flow of information
- Assist in developing and updating project schedules
- Help prepare and issue subcontracts and support buyout activities
- Coordinate subcontractors and assist with day-to-day field operations
- Participate in quality control efforts, including site observations and documentation
- Assist with project closeout processes, including final documentation and reporting
- Conduct site safety walks and promote adherence to safety standards and best practices
- Utilize project management and scheduling software consistently and accurately
- Attend team meetings, trainings, and industry-related events as needed
- Provide additional project support as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within the construction industry
- Basic understanding of construction processes, scheduling, contract administration, and budgeting
- Familiarity with job site safety standards and procedures
- Experience with tools such as Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with a proactive and dependable work style
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to walk job sites, climb stairs, sit, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs as needed
- Exposure to active construction environments, including varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving equipment
- Must be comfortable working in conditions that may include loud noise, temperature changes, and outdoor elements
