About CrewCost

We're building the accounting platform that construction contractors have always needed but never had. CrewCost replaces clunky ERPs and QuickBooks workarounds with software built specifically for how contractors actually run their businesses — job costing, WIP, retainage, AIA billing, and everything in between.

We're a small, fast team and we're growing. Every person here has real ownership and real impact.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This role is for you if...

You've spent years in construction accounting — as a controller, staff accountant, or QuickBooks consultant — and you're ready for something more than month-end close. You know the pain contractors feel with their accounting software better than most, because you've lived it. Now you want to help fix it.

You've also tackled the hard migrations — the ones with years of open project history, committed costs, and WIP that have to come over intact — and you have the scars to prove it.

You'll lead contractors through their transition to CrewCost: migrating their data, configuring their chart of accounts, training their teams, and making sure they go live with confidence. You'll also help us build the playbook — the guides, templates, and training programs that scale as we grow.

This is not a passive role. You'll own implementations end-to-end, contribute to product, and occasionally join sales calls where construction accounting credibility matters.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

What you'll do

  • Lead new customer implementations: data migration, configuration, training, and go-live support
  • Migrate customers off QuickBooks — both Online and Desktop — including chart of accounts mapping, historical data, and open balances
  • Handle complex migrations involving active, in-flight projects: open jobs, job cost history, committed costs, and WIP that can't be left behind
  • Translate construction accounting concepts (WIP, job costing, retainage, AIA billing, change orders) into practical CrewCost workflows
  • Build repeatable onboarding programs, training guides, and resources that scale
  • Partner with product to surface real-world accounting needs
  • Support select sales conversations with accounting and systems expertise

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

What we're looking for

  • 5–10 years of hands-on construction accounting experience — controller, staff accountant, or construction-focused bookkeeper/consultant
  • Deep, hands-on experience migrating companies off QuickBooks — both Online and Desktop. You know the difference, you've dealt with the export limitations, and you've cleaned and mapped messy historical data before loading it into a new system
  • Proven experience migrating customers with active, in-flight projects — open jobs, job cost history, committed costs, and WIP. You know this data is rarely clean and you have a process for handling it
  • Strong grasp of construction finance: job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, AIA progress billing, and change orders
  • Experience with other construction ERPs (Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, Computerease, or similar) is a strong plus
  • A natural trainer and communicator — you can work with a CFO and a field PM in the same day
  • CPA or equivalent credential is a plus, but hands-on expertise matters more than the letters
  • Builder mentality — excited to create processes from scratch, not just follow them
