Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join its growing Compliance & Risk team in New Haven, Connecticut.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced conflicts professional to join a highly regarded global law firm and play a critical role in supporting the firm's risk management and client intake functions. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across both the US and UK, advising on conflicts matters, professional responsibility issues, and new business acceptance.
The Opportunity
As part of a growing international Compliance & Risk team, the Conflicts Analyst will be responsible for reviewing and clearing conflicts searches, advising lawyers on potential conflicts issues, and helping to ensure the firm meets its professional and regulatory obligations.
This position offers exposure to complex, high-profile matters and the opportunity to contribute to the development of new processes within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review new business intake requests and analyse conflicts search results.
- Conduct detailed conflicts reviews and provide recommendations regarding clearance.
- Ensure search terms, client information, and corporate hierarchy details are accurate and comprehensive.
- Track and maintain records of clients with negotiated engagement terms containing specific conflicts provisions.
- Support the maintenance of the firm's restricted client lists.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of ethical walls and information barriers.
- Advise lawyers and business services professionals on conflicts-related issues and potential resolutions.
- Support AML and wider client onboarding activities where required.
- Assist with training and promoting best practices across the firm.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in conflicts analysis and client onboarding within a law firm.
- Strong knowledge of US conflicts rules and professional responsibility requirements.
- Experience reviewing, analysing, and clearing conflicts searches.
- Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and confidently.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience with Intapp Conflicts or similar conflicts management platforms would be highly desirable.
