Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Compounding Pharmacy Technician role based in Nashville, TN. The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications according to established formulations, procedures, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include accurately reading and interpreting prescriptions, performing calculations, measuring and mixing ingredients, labeling finished products, and maintaining detailed compounding and quality records. The role also involves managing inventory of raw materials and supplies, supporting order fulfillment and packaging, and ensuring work areas, equipment, and cleanrooms meet strict cleanliness and safety requirements. The technician will collaborate closely with pharmacists and other team members, provide professional and courteous support to clinicians and patients, and follow all applicable USP, state board, and company policies.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience handling prescriptions, including accurate interpretation, verification, and data entry.
  • Foundational knowledge of pharmacy operations and regulations, preferably in a compounding or hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Experience working as a Pharmacy Technician, with strong attention to detail and comfort with sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures.
  • Inventory control skills, including receiving, storing, rotating, and tracking materials, and escalating low-stock or discrepancy issues promptly.
  • Customer service skills for interacting professionally and respectfully with patients, clinicians, and internal team members.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure with the State of Tennessee (or eligibility to obtain), and national certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • Familiarity with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines and other relevant compounding standards is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, handle precise manual tasks, and work in cleanroom or controlled environments as required.
  • Strong math, documentation, and computer skills, including use of pharmacy management software and electronic records.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, confidentiality, and working effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Experience compounding sterile and non-sterile medications.
