Job Title: Compounder
Job Description
- The Compounder prepares bulk and raw materials for production in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- This role mixes and monitors product batches, completes all required documentation, and cleans and maintains compounding equipment and transfer lines in accordance with cGMP, FDA standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Work is performed under the close supervision of experienced staff members, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Accumulate and prepare raw materials for compounding according to established formulas and procedures.
- Control machines and operate equipment to mix raw materials for product batches.
- Monitor the manufacturing process to ensure batches meet quality and production specifications.
- Document all required processing information in an accurate, clear, and legible manner.
- Work closely with packaging personnel to transfer bulk product from the compounding area to the packaging line.
- Assemble and disassemble transfer lines, trace lines, insulated jackets, and pumps as required for production.
- Clean compounding equipment and components to ensure all batches meet quality control standards and prevent batch contamination.
- Document all cleaning, purging, and clean-in-place activities in log books and other required records.
- Transport raw materials to and from the warehouse and the compounding area in a safe and efficient manner.
- Properly dispose of compounding waste, packaging materials, and other bulk scrap following established procedures.
- Maintain a cGMP-compliant, FDA-compliant, and safe work area at all times.
- Follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and other staff.
- Support production needs by working overtime when required.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma required.
- Two years of formal education or training beyond high school and at least six months of related experience.
- 2–5 years of compounding experience in an FDA-regulated environment.
- Experience with compounding, blending, batch making, batch mixing, and production processes in a pharmaceutical or similar setting.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing, walking, lifting 50–75 lbs, carrying, reaching, and crouching.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to support production demands.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for batching and measurements.
- Ability to work safely and consistently wear required personal protective equipment.
- Basic mechanical skills for assembling, disassembling, and operating production equipment.
- Familiarity with cGMP practices and FDA expectations in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical production or a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to FDA guidelines and quality standards.
- Comfort working with batch records and log books.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Reliability and punctuality in a shift-based production role.
Work Environment
- This role is based in a pharmaceutical production setting that operates under cGMP and FDA regulations.
- The position works on 3rd shift, typically from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with the expectation of overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
- The environment involves working around production machinery, compounding equipment, transfer lines, pumps, and related systems.
- Team members regularly stand, walk, lift 50–75 lbs, carry materials, reach, and crouch throughout the shift.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and provided, and employees must follow all safety and cleanliness standards to maintain a compliant and well-organized facility.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Orchard Park, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $62400.00/yr.
