Job Title: Compounder
Job Description

The Compounder accurately prepares, mixes, and processes chemical compounds used in flavor and fragrance products, following strict formulas, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This role works hands-on with raw materials and processing equipment to ensure each batch meets precise specifications for quality, safety, and consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret job orders to understand compounding and packaging requirements for each batch.
  • Use the computer system to look up quality control (QC) approved stock and identify required raw materials for production.
  • Retrieve and stage the correct raw materials from inventory in accordance with batch and formula specifications.
  • Inspect raw materials for color, odor, and other characteristics, following detailed formula instructions for each compound.
  • Accurately weigh and pour raw materials using scales to meet order-specific weight and measurement requirements.
  • Perform all stages of compound processing, including mixing, filtering, heating, sampling, and chilling, while following established procedures.
  • Inspect the exterior and interior of containers before filling to ensure they are clean, intact, and suitable for use.
  • Fill containers with finished product in a safe, clean, and efficient manner, maintaining product integrity.
  • Prepare representative samples of mixed ingredients for laboratory testing and quality control analysis.
  • Follow GMP, safety, and compliance procedures at all times while handling chemicals and operating equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the sample lab and manufacturing environment.
  • Document batch information accurately as required by internal procedures and regulatory standards.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2+ years of experience in chemical compounding in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • At least 2+ years of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience within the flavor or fragrance industry.
  • Hands-on experience with mixing, batching, and compounding processes.
  • Ability to accurately weigh and measure raw materials using scales and other measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail when following formulas, instructions, and quality standards.
  • Ability to evaluate materials for characteristics such as color and odor according to specifications.
  • Comfort working with chemicals and aromatic raw materials in a controlled environment.
  • Basic computer skills to look up QC-approved stock and production information.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and safety guidelines consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with filtering, heating, chilling, and other processing steps in compound production.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes, including preparing and handling samples for testing.
  • Understanding of safety, compliance, and sustainability principles in a manufacturing setting.
  • Interest in the flavor and fragrance industry and working with aromatic raw materials.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development to build a long-term career in compounding and production.
Work Environment

This role operates in a sample lab and manufacturing environment focused on flavor and fragrance ingredients. You will work around chemical and aromatic raw materials, using processing equipment for mixing, filtering, heating, and chilling. The position follows GMP standards, safety procedures, and compliance guidelines at all times. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carteret, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
