Position: Component Engineer

Location: Mossville, Illinois

Duration: 12 Months of contract with possible extension

This role is a great fit for engineers who enjoy working on real world, long lifecycle products and solving complex sustainment challenges. It offers the opportunity to make an impact by keeping mature and legacy systems reliable, compliant, and available despite component obsolescence and supply chain constraints. The role provides strong technical ownership, broad cross functional exposure, and hands on experience with lifecycle management, engineering change, validation, and supplier collaboration—making it ideal for building deep engineering judgment while developing a system level perspective.

Typical task breakdown:

• Support sustainment and obsolescence mitigation projects for legacy components, including risk assessment, alternate part evaluation, and documentation updates
• Support engineering changes by updating BOMs, coordinating validation/testing, and preparing technical evidence for design reviews
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross functional teams to resolve component availability issues and ensure long term product support

Education & Experience Required:

• Years of experience: 5 years BS Degree; 3 years if candidate has Master’s Degree
• Degree requirement: Bachelors or Masters

• Experience working in NPI projects
• Component obsolescence and sustainment knowledge
• Communication skills
