Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.

Duties and responsibilities will include: 

  • Reviewing assigned unsecured credit product promotional materials including marketing and advertising creatives, customer communications, scripting, targeting campaigns, disclosures, and other external and internal facing promotional materials relating to unsecured credit products within established SLAs. 
  • Assisting in maintaining marketing related disclosures in the EDAM Disclosure Repository; submit change requests to the Repository through Aprimo as needed and ensure the application of these disclosures to relevant marketing and business materials.
  • Working with the broader marketing compliance team to record, track, and maintain metrics relating to submission quality, volumes, SLAs, and recurring compliance issues and themes identified in reviews with the objective of improving consistency and efficiency.
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of procedures, job tools and guidelines, and other supporting materials for unsecured credit marketing compliance as required by the Corporate Marketing and Advertising Policy and associated procedures. 
  • Identifying and escalating emerging risks to management and risk partners as appropriate.  Collaborate with relevant lines of business, legal, and risk partners to document process and fulfillment concerns and propose solutions.
  • Maintaining and fostering strong relationships with marketing, product teams, Compliance and Control partners, legal, and other line of business to facilitate discussions and resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management


Desired Qualifications

  • Technical Writing experience, preferably in the banking industry
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills


Other Desired Qualifications

• Experience working on or supporting marketing strategies and campaigns
• Marketing collateral and business material review experience, including experience with Aprimo 
• Strong knowledge of Wells Fargo consumer credit card, co-brand, core benefits, rewards, personal loans, and Retail Services products
• 2+ years of Consumer Protection regulations experience including, but not limited to Regulation Z, Regulation B, Fair Credit Reporting Act, CAN SPAM, and UDAAP
• Extensive banking compliance experience with an in depth understanding of risk management relating to unsecured consumer credit products, collections activities, customer service and complaints
• Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Experience with the interpretation of laws, rulings, and regulations impacting the supported lines of business
• Providing advice that protects the Bank’s reputation and mitigates regulatory risk
• An active Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation 
• Experience working with examiners and internal auditors
