The salary range for this position is:
$28.30 - $40.20 Hourly
$2,264.31 - $3,216.34 Biweekly
$4,906.00 - $6,968.74 Monthly

This position is a fully operational compliance investigator, processing complaints and inquiries received by the Division (hereinafter referred to as “cases”). This position conducts investigations for compliance with the FAMLI Act and its regulations, and the position’s work involves identifying, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing evidence to
determine if a violation has been, or is being, committed.

This position reviews and analyzes cases. This position determines how to conduct the case investigation and what action should be taken as a result. This position determines what information is required from the parties involved in the case. Parties involved may include claimants, employers, attorneys, employee and employer representatives, and organizations. Within limits set by the specific process, the investigator decides what operation is required to carry out and complete the case investigation. After the investigation, this position makes a recommendation to the unit supervisor regarding a proposed outcome and drafts a determination. This position will draft determinations. The investigator’s determination is reviewed for accuracy, legal analysis, writing, etc., and then once approved, sent to the parties involved in the case. The investigator’s determinations are subject to review through the Division’s appeals process and the Colorado court system. During and after the case investigation, this position is required to collect and maintain all relevant case documentation.

This position also provides education to claimants and their representatives, employer and business organizations, and other private and public/governmental entities within
the State of Colorado.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Five (5) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this positionsuch as a legal experience in a law firm or government agency, including investigations, compliance and may include employee relations.


OR


Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to five (5) yearssuch as a legal experience in a law firm or government agency, including investigations, compliance and may include employee relations.



Preferred Qualifications
  • EEO Certification or paralegal certification
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Read, Write, Speak)
  • Experience in technical or legal writing, data analysis and complex report writing
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat (document, organization, redaction and bates labeling)
  • Experience performing similar duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.

Required Competencies
  • Experience conducting investigations in a law firm or government agency or an employee relations role investigating retaliation and interference claims.
  • Experience conducting legal and fact research, performing legal or technical
  • writing, conducting legal analysis, and preparing agency determinations.
  • Experience applying the law to facts
  • Experience managing a full caseload and multiple deadlines
  • Experience planning or leading investigations
  • Experience in managing large volumes of documents
  • Highly proficient in professional writing, including grammar, editing, proofing, spelling and punctuation.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro including organizing, redacting, and bates labeling documents.
