Community Service Officer - Part Time .65 FTE

The Carver County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated and community-minded person to serve as a Community Service Officer (CSO). This part-time position (up to 27 hours per week) will play a vital role in supporting law enforcement operations and enhancing public safety through engagement and assistance. Under the direction of the Sergeant of Patrol Services Division the CSO provides support services for the various divisions within the Sheriff's Office. Requires working flexible and varied schedules to meet the needs of the Sheriff's Office and the contracting communities. This position is non-sworn and requires the CSO to work and perform in varying climatic conditions.

This position will work up to 27 hours per week and is eligible for our PT benefits, including prorated holiday and PTO.

This is a safety-sensitive position.

1st interviews (in person) will be held Wednesday, May 6.
• Enforce local ordinances of the contracting communities relating to animals.
• Respond and handle non-emergency public safety calls for service that do not require a licensed peace officer.
• Proactively engage with community members through patrol, public interactions, and educational events to promote public safety

• Act as a liaison with contract community leaders and city/township contracted kennels.
• May assist in scheduling CSOs into contract communities to fulfill the contractual obligations.
• Educate and enforce County ordinances through patrol activities of County parks and regional trails.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED

• Two (2) years of related experience

• Valid MN Drivers License or ability to obtain with 60 days of employment

Preferred Qualification:

• Enrollment in a law enforcement program or interest in law enforcement as a career. This position may facilitate a pathway to a career as a licensed Deputy Sheriff upon fulfillment of any necessary educational requirements.

The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, CJIS background investigation, psychological evaluation, and pre-placement physical.
