Position Title: Communications Intern FLSA Status: Non -Exempt Department: Marketing & Communications Date Completed: October 2025 Position Summary: The Communications Intern supports YCCF’s mission by assisting in the development and execution of communication strategies across multiple platforms. This role helps create engaging content, support digital and social media efforts, contribute to bas ic media and storytelling projects, and assist with communication needs for events and community initia tives. The ideal intern is a strong writer, eager learner, and collaborative team member who is inter ested in building the necessary skills to enhance the organization’s visibility and strengthen stakeh older engagement. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Uphold and model YCCF’s Core Values, including community first, action oriented, innovati ve and collaborative, integrity, and humility. 2. Develop an understanding of the nonprofit sector an d the role of philanthropy in York County. 3. Assist in creating content for e -communications, website, press materials, fundholder tools, Annual Report, and events. 4. Collaborate with staff across departments to unders tand their goals and communication needs. 5. Help research best practices in marketing and commu nications tools, including use of AI to enhance campaigns. 6. Maintain and update contact information in YCCF’s da tabase. 7. Assist with maintaining mailing lists and basic data entry to support storytelling and engagement. 8. Assist with event planning, including content suppor t and vendor communication. 9. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Essential Skills Required: 1. Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPo int, Word), 2. Clear written and verbal communication across diver se audiences; accurate meeting documentation. 3. Handle sensitive financial data with discretion. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to create clear, engaging content creation across platforms; strong interpersonal ski lls. 5. Skilled in writing, proofreading, and adapting cont ent for newsletters, websites, press releases, and social media. 6. Experience managing social media platforms, creating digital campaigns, and using analytics to optimize engagement. 7. Proficien t with design tools like Canva or Adobe Suite for creating visual content. 8. Familiar with CMS (e.g., WordPress), email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), and basic SEO. 9. Team -oriented with flexibility to shift priorities in fa st-paced environments. 10. Willingness to learn and grow Qualifications: 1. Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with a focus in Marketing & Communications with a 3.0 minimum GPA 2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills w ith strong editing and proofreading abilities. 3. Proficiency with social media platforms and content scheduling tools 4. Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mai lchimp, Constant Contact) Physical Requirements: 1. Ability to work under stress and work additional ho urs to meet reporting deadlines. 2. Required to sit for extended periods of time. 3. Required to sit, stand, walk; occasionally required t o stoop, kneel, crouch. 4. Ability to ascend and descend stairs. 5. Required to reach with hands and arms and push item s overhead. 6. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. 7. Required to talk, hear, and see. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptio n, ability to adjust focus, and ability to differentiate between colors. 8. Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequen t use of hands and fingers, including keystrokes on computer keyboard and calculator. 9. Ability to travel between company and community facilities, as necessary. Work Environment: 1. The position primarily works in an office environme nt, seated at a desk for extended periods of time. 2. Frequent and ongoing interaction with employees. 3. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. 4.
