Communications and Marketing Coordinator (PT)

Supports the City’s efforts to inform, engage, and communicate with community members and other stakeholders via print, digital, and social media platforms. Responsible for creating both short- and long-form written and visual content, generating social media content, and supporting the Parks and Recreation Department’s marketing efforts.

This position is limited to no more than 29 hours per week. The schedule is flexible and will be determined with the manager upon hire, with hours worked Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • Develops, writes, and edits written content for a variety of mediums and audiences, including the City’s print publications and website
  • Manages the Parks and Recreation Department’s social media platforms by monitoring content, engaging with the community, and responding to inquiries
  • Partners with staff in Communications and Parks and Recreation to execute various marketing campaigns related to recreation programming, Community Center membership, SandVenture, and other City amenities and services
  • Supports the Communications Specialist – Digital Media with overall digital strategy implementation, including video content production, social media campaign execution, and website needs
  • Assists with event and program photography for the Parks and Recreation Department
  • Generates flyers, graphics, and other marketing materials for the Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Communications Specialist – Graphic Design
  • Provides professional, responsive customer service to internal and external audiences
  • Supports communications efforts for City events, public meetings and community engagement initiatives, which may include occasional evening or weekend work
  • Completes project-based assignments and other related duties as needed/assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma
  • 1 year of experience in digital media, communications, social media management

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in communications, digital media, marketing or a related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Friendly customer service skills and ability to work with the public in a professional, tactful manner
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Photography skills, including basic knowledge of lighting and composition
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize content management systems for maintaining and updating the City website
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and consistently meet established deadlines
  • Knowledge of Canva and Adobe Suite applications
