Brown & Brown is seeking a Commercial Lines Leader to join our growing team in Tacoma, WA!
This is a department leadership role that combines hands-on commercial lines account management with full team oversight. You’ll lead the commercial lines department day-to-day, mentor and develop your team, own department results, and partner with the Profit Center Leader on business strategy and carrier relationships. The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial lines professional who is ready to step into a leadership seat while maintaining their own book of business.
How You Will Contribute
- Provide day-to-day leadership of the commercial lines department, managing workflow, evaluating team progress, and addressing performance
- Directly mentor team members, lead training initiatives, and develop comprehensive professional development plans
- Own commercial lines department results and drive accountability across the team
- Develop and implement business strategies in collaboration with the Profit Center Leader, including strategic carrier and third-party relationships
- Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities in partnership with the Marketing Department Leader and broader leadership team
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with carrier partners, staying current on appetite requirements, incentives, and commission structures
- Manage your own book of business while fulfilling all Account Manager responsibilities
- Maintain deep knowledge of the team’s books of business, individual workloads, and key accounts
- Engage directly on key client relationships to strengthen the agency’s position, and advise leadership of any concerns with large or strategic accounts
- Stay current on marketplace changes and proactively communicate relevant developments to the team and clients
Skills & Experience to Be Successful
- Significant commercial lines insurance experience in a brokerage or agency environment, with progressive leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Active Washington State Property & Casualty license (required); Oregon P&C license a plus
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of insurance professionals
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial lines coverages, carrier markets, and underwriting guidelines
- Experience managing a book of business while balancing department-level responsibilities
- Professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, or CRM preferred
- Proficiency with agency management systems and Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and strategic thinking skills
Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 (DOE)
