Job Description
Our client is seeking a motivated Collections Specialist to join their finance operations team. This position will focus on managing outstanding customer balances, maintaining accurate accounts receivable records, and partnering with internal teams to ensure timely payment collection and account resolution. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience handling collections activities in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances and payment status.
- Maintain accurate records of collection efforts and account activity within internal systems.
- Communicate professionally with customers to resolve payment issues, billing discrepancies, and account concerns.
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to investigate and resolve account-related issues.
- Assist with accounts receivable reconciliations and reporting activities.
- Monitor aging reports and support collection efforts to improve cash flow and reduce outstanding receivables.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and service quality.
- Provide exceptional customer service while balancing collection responsibilities.
- Identify opportunities to improve collection processes and account resolution workflows.
- Support additional finance operations projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, finance operations, or a related field.
- Experience working in a high-volume environment with competing priorities.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to professionally handle collections conversations while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working with finance, billing, CRM, or ERP systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to analyze account information and identify trends or collection opportunities.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Must reside within commuting distance of Herndon, VA.
