How you'll make an impact in this role

  • Coordinate coding workflow.
  • Support operations, resolve billing/coding issues, and manage staff assignment based on volume.
  • Liaise with managers/departments to resolve coding inaccuracies and denial processing.
  • Assist team with urgent issues, including documentation inconsistencies.
  • May abstract info and assign/sequence diagnosis/procedure codes per guidelines.
  • Adhere to AHIMA's Ethical Coding Standards and official coding guidelines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • One or more of the following:
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Coder obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Preferred Credential(s):

  • Reg Health Info Admnstr.
  • Reg Health Info Tech.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency and 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree and 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

What additional requirements you'll need

40 hours per week / M-F / Must work a range between the hours of 6am-6pm CST.
