Coating Operator starting at 19/hr

Job Description

The Coating Operator prepares, coats, and inspects circuit boards to ensure consistent, high-quality conformal coating and potting. This role operates and maintains coating and dispensing equipment, performs manual touch-up where needed, and follows established procedures and customer requirements to support a smooth and efficient manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Mask and tape circuit boards to protect areas that must remain free of conformal coating or potting.
  • Inspect coated assemblies to verify proper coverage and adherence to quality standards.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain coating and dispensing machines to ensure they remain in proper operating condition.
  • Remove excess coating and perform manual touch-up on areas missed by the coating machine to maintain consistent high quality on all boards.
  • Transport racks of circuit boards between workstations to support the ongoing manufacturing process.
  • Change fluids and mixers in coating and dispensing machines and clean equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times.
  • Use hand tools as needed to support coating, masking, and touch-up activities.
  • Apply knowledge of various materials used in the coating and potting process to select appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Follow established requirements for setup, first-piece inspection, and in-process 100% inspection.
  • Follow basic techniques for operating and performing preventative maintenance on spray guns.
  • Follow basic techniques for operating aerosol spray cans for coating applications.
  • Measure “wet” film thickness using approved methods to ensure coating meets specified requirements.
  • Follow applicable customer coating requirements and internal work instructions.
  • Locate and use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Technical Data Sheets (TDS) on the company server to handle materials safely and correctly.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervision to accommodate changing or fluctuating production requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with assembly and production work in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Hands-on experience with coating processes, including conformal coating and potting.
  • Ability to perform detailed masking and taping on circuit boards.
  • Skill in performing visual inspection to ensure proper coating coverage and quality.
  • Ability to operate and maintain coating and dispensing machines, including changing fluids, mixers, and performing cleaning.
  • Competence in using hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to identify different types of conformal coatings and thinners.
  • Ability to follow requirements for setup, first-piece inspection, and in-process 100% inspection.
  • Ability to follow basic techniques for operation and preventative maintenance of spray guns.
  • Ability to follow basic techniques for operating aerosol spray cans.
  • Ability to measure “wet” film thickness accurately.
  • Ability to follow applicable customer coating requirements and internal procedures.
  • Ability to locate and use SDS and TDS on the company server.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to perform general housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electronic assemblies and circuit boards.
  • Comfort working in a production environment with defined processes and quality checks.
  • Ability to work independently while following detailed instructions and established procedures.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks to support fluctuating production needs.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple racks of boards and tasks efficiently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shakopee, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
