Job/Position Summary


Generally, the CNC Machinist V-Programmer II creates, updates, adjusts, and verifies complex programs; operates numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring the highest level of skill in accordance with required specifications while maintaining quality and safety standards. Creates programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, profiling, and contouring. Ensures proper dimensions and tolerance levels of product by monitoring malfunctions and out-of-tolerance machining and adjusting programs as necessary to achieve desired results.


At this level, Machinists are expected to program and operate the Company’s most complex machines and as necessary or required, operate more than one machine simultaneously or program and operate a machine or machines simultaneously. These Machinists serve as the highest-level technical resources for other machinists and may be assigned certain “lead” responsibilities, and as such, must possess the utmost integrity and demonstrated maturity, together with strong, dependable, and effective soft, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Must have both a continuing commitment to, and proven/demonstrated development and improvement of all such skills, together with a commitment and willingness to understand and embrace new techniques as they emerge and upgrade and develop skills to meet changes in the industry and/or the Company’s business. Maintaining and driving a positive Company image and brand, whether inside or outside the work environment is expected at this level.

Machinist Position Specific Essential Functions:



· Performs advanced setup operations, adjusts and verifies programming, and operates numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring an extremely high degree of skill, focus, intuitiveness, and machining intellect.

· May be required to operate more than one machine simultaneously.

· Completes customer product requirements as associated with work orders.

· Determines appropriate tooling/gages for part production/inspection.

· Checks parts for conformance to specifications; performs in-process inspections as required to ensure 100% quality product.

· Identifies discrepancies in estimated set up and run times and resolves with Manager.

· Responsible for document and data control of programs, tool lists, and other related data with respect to job packets/travelers.

· Responsible for cleaning and performing general maintenance on equipment as scheduled or required.

· Initiate nonconforming product procedures when necessary.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Programmer Position Specific Essential Functions:

· Creates complex programs for the Company’s most complex machines (detailed numerical control programs for use on CNC machinery); designs processing and manufacturing sequences; revises and/or updates programs to meet engineering or product changes.

· May program and operate machine(s) simultaneously.

· Maintains organized files with appropriate part information.

· Works with production and engineering personnel to develop efficient work holding methods.

· Edits and/or updates programs on the production floor using machine specific programming methods to meet engineering, product, and/or efficiency changes).

· Prepares/processes drawings to aid in manufacturing of product.

· Controls programs/process drawings (revision levels, etc.).

· Maintains open communication with production personnel to ensure accurate programming information is provided.

· Programs and operates full simultaneous 5-Axis machining.

· Develops or assists in developing setups and workflow that will allow significant shift up time on assigned machines.

· Ensured machines are operating continuously and productively.

· Serves as the highest-level technical resources for other machinists and may be assigned certain “lead” responsibilities.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:


· Requires eight to ten (5-10) years of combined formal training and aerospace CNC machining and programming experience, together with the ability to successfully and consistently program and/or produce Level 5.0 parts.

· Level 5.0 Parts: Most complex machining and highest level of programming; complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring an extremely high degree of skill, focus, intuitiveness, and machining intellect. Representative Ops: Program and operate full simultaneous 5-Axis machining.

· Requires broad knowledge of machining techniques and in-depth knowledge of computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures.

· Ability to perform setups which involve significant familiarity with and understanding program formats involving combinations of operations such as profile and contour milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor.

· Ability to work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring the highest skill.

· Ability to follow written instructions with expert level of blueprint reading and interpretation skills.

· Advanced use of Mastercam (latest version).

· Advanced CAM training and skills.

· Advanced computer skills.

· Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of appropriate inspection techniques and GD&T.

· Ability to perform part inspection using inspection equipment.

· In-depth knowledge of working properties of all materials.

· Full, thorough understanding of Quality Systems.

· Other “soft” and interpersonal skills and abilities apply.


Education & Employment Eligibility/Verification


· High school graduate: trigonometry competency required.

Position Schedule & Particulars

· Full-Time / 1st Shift

· Monday through Friday | 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

· 40 hours per week required minimum. Overtime available.

Standard Pay Range

· Standard pay range $29.50-$40.00 plus, DOE. Compensation at hire is based on job knowledge and experience and may be higher than standard pay range if competencies exceed position requirements.

· Future compensation increases are based on job knowledge, performance, competence, and skill, including soft skills.
