Job Title: CNC Milling Machinist

Job Description

This role is ideal for an experienced CNC milling machinist who enjoys working with large, high‑value castings and forgings in a fast‑paced production environment. You will operate a variety of CNC milling machines with FANUC controls to produce precision components that meet strict quality and customer specifications. Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of CNC milling machines using FANUC controls to machine large castings and forgings into precision components.
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, work instructions, and specifications to ensure accurate machining and setup.
  • Perform complex and progressive CNC milling operations on a wide range of parts and components to close tolerances and specified surface finishes.
  • Complete basic machine setups and adjustments for multiple jobs, including tooling changes and offsets, to support efficient production.
  • Run and monitor more than one machine when required to meet production goals and optimize throughput.
  • Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify conformance to dimensional, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Identify and correct basic machining issues, making necessary adjustments to maintain part quality and consistency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards and housekeeping expectations.
  • Support production needs by assisting with changeovers, machine change‑outs, and other tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Follow all shop floor procedures, including documentation, basic computer entries, and communication with team members and supervisors regarding job status and issues.
  • Consistently handle and move materials and components, including lifting items up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier, using proper lifting techniques and equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and write English to understand work instructions, blueprints, and safety information.
  • Preferred five or more years of combined formal training and experience in machining or CNC milling, or equivalent experience.
  • Broad knowledge of machining techniques and strong familiarity with CNC machine tool operating procedures.
  • Hands‑on experience performing CNC milling operations to close tolerances and specified finishes on a variety of parts.
  • Ability to apply recognized tooling, cutting parameters, and machining procedures to maintain tight tolerances.
  • Proficient blueprint reading skills to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and geometric requirements.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate shop‑floor systems and complete required documentation.
  • Ability to consistently lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, with the capability to handle heavier weights when necessary.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC milling machines equipped with FANUC controls in a production shop environment.
  • Experience working with large castings and forgings and machining them into precision components.
  • Experience running both vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines.
  • Comfort working in a high‑mix, high‑precision environment with multiple setups and part numbers.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality mindset, with the ability to identify nonconforming parts and take corrective action.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to work second shift and overtime, including occasional weekends, based on production needs.

Work Environment

You will work in a well‑organized, clean, and safe manufacturing facility that houses more than 61 machines, including Toyoda, Makino, Niigata, OKK, Matsura, and bore mills. Approximately 25% of the equipment consists of vertical mills and 75% are horizontal mills, and you will primarily work with large pieces and parts. The shop operates multiple CNC milling machines with FANUC controls in a production environment focused on precision and quality. Standard schedules include a first shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM and a second shift from 4:20 PM to 2:50 AM, Monday through Friday, with a 10% differential for second shift. Overtime is available after 40 hours, with double time on Sundays, and weekend work typically ranges from 5 to 7 hours, with the option to work up to 10–12 hours if desired. When first shift works overtime, the start time may move earlier to 5:00 AM. The facility promotes safe work practices, organized work areas, and the use of appropriate tools and equipment to handle large components.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
