SUMMARY:
This is a full-time, on-site role for a CNC Maintenance Technician based in Fowlerville, MI. The CNC Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing equipment maintenance, conducting preventive checks, troubleshooting, repairing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring minimal downtime for CNC machinery. Additional responsibilities include documenting maintenance activities, adhering to safety standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain operational efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Makino CNC machining centers equipped with Fanuc controls, performing both electrical and mechanical work on precision production equipment.
· Diagnose and repair Fanuc CNC control systems, including servo drives, spindle drives, I/O systems, HMIs, alarms, parameters, and ladder logic (as applicable).
· Perform advanced diagnostics on CNC machine systems including spindles, ATC systems, pallet changers, ball screws, linear guides, servo motors, encoders, resolvers, and feedback systems.
· Inspect, test, and evaluate the condition of CNC equipment and components to ensure proper operation, alignment, and accuracy.
· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime.
· Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including sensors, proximity switches, light curtains, safety circuits, relays, contactors, and PLC-based controls.
· Install, align, troubleshoot, and maintain machine tool controls, motion systems, and safety interlocks.
· Support production by responding urgently to machine-down conditions and restoring equipment to operational status efficiently and safely.
· Coordinate with OEM service technicians, contractors, and internal maintenance personnel to ensure repairs are completed correctly with minimal production impact.
· Start up, test, and verify machine operation after repairs, including warm-up cycles, axis movement, spindle performance, and tool change operation.
· Maintain accurate documentation by tracking repairs, PMs, and completed work orders.
· Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and shop equipment.
· Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, safety protocols, and PPE requirements.
· Work collaboratively in a team-based manufacturing environment while also functioning independently when required.
· Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Mid to high level Corrective, Preventative maintenance experience required.
· Ability to read part manuals, electrical and mechanical schematics, assembly instructions, technical documents, and troubleshooting guides.
· Demonstrate high degree of industrial mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical aptitude and repairs abilities.
· Knowledge of CNC machine design and operation.
· Knowledge of and experience with electrical test equipment, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
· Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
· Ability to work unsupervised if necessary.
· Ability to read, write and use general math skills.
· Ability to multitask job duties effectively and efficiently.
