Job Title: CNC MachinistJob DescriptionThe CNC Machinist works in a collaborative production environment to set up, operate, and adjust a wide range of CNC and conventional machine tools, ensuring products meet precise aerospace-level tolerances and customer specifications. This role involves reading and following digital work instructions and blueprints, operating complex production equipment and manufacturing software, performing equipment calibration and preventive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement in quality, safety, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Operate complex production and packaging equipment, manufacturing software, and tools safely as part of a team to produce various products.
- Follow digital work instructions, blueprints, guidelines, diagrams, and schematics to ensure all products meet customer specifications and tolerance requirements.
- Interpret dashboards and reporting tools to monitor production performance and quality.
- Execute equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustain stable production on assigned machines.
- Set up and operate automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production or processing environment.
- Make necessary adjustments to existing equipment to maintain product quality and process efficiency.
- Monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls to ensure adherence to production and process specifications.
- Report equipment malfunctions or abnormalities promptly and perform minor adjustments and repairs when appropriate.
- Set up and operate, in an efficient and timely manner, a wide range of machine tools such as mill-turns, mills, lathes, grinders, and powder presses on diverse products involving difficult operations, aerospace tolerances, and complex shapes.
- Align and secure tooling, holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines to support accurate machining operations.
- Set up and modify programs for robots and vision systems, including writing product-specific and robot programs by material master.
- Modify CNC and robot programs in response to issues or process changes to maintain part quality and throughput.
- Read and work from blueprints and use appropriate quality control gauges to set and verify work against specifications.
- Use inspection tools such as Keyence systems, Optical Guide Post (OGP), and optical comparators to check advanced quality parameters.
- Troubleshoot operating issues by determining root causes of errors and deciding appropriate corrective actions.
- Adjust programs in PLCs to manipulate parts and processes to meet required specifications.
- Collaborate and confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information and resolve production issues.
- Complete all required documentation, electronic data entries, and communications accurately and on time.
- Move materials, either physically or mechanically, as needed to complete machining and production assignments.
- Perform detailed inspection of machined products by selecting and setting up precision gauging to verify internal and external quality specifications and requirements.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and actively contribute to maintaining a 100% safe work environment.
- Support Lean Enterprise initiatives by seeking ways to improve quality, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
- Modify existing equipment and assist in designing new equipment to drive continual manufacturing process improvement, including in-process production testing and quality control.
Essential Skills- Proven experience operating CNC machines, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and digital work instructions.
- Hands-on experience with machine tools such as mills, lathes, mill-turns, grinders, and powder presses.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical assembly skills.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC equipment and related tooling, fixtures, and accessories.
- Ability to monitor and interpret meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, and pressures to maintain process specifications.
- Experience performing equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on production machinery.
- Skill in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and a variety of quality control gauges.
- Ability to perform in-process and final inspection of machined parts to verify internal and external quality specifications.
- Experience with modifying CNC programs and adjusting parameters to resolve machining issues and meet tolerances.
- Capability to use advanced inspection equipment such as Keyence systems, Optical Guide Post (OGP), and optical comparators.
- Competence in working with PLC-controlled equipment and adjusting programs to bring parts into specification.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and adherence to tight tolerances, including aerospace-level requirements.
- Ability to complete accurate electronic data entry and documentation in a timely manner.
- Commitment to following established safety procedures and supporting a safe work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Prior experience running CNC machines is preferred.
- Background in machining complex shapes and working to tight or aerospace-level tolerances.
- Familiarity with robot and vision system setup, programming, and modification.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, supervisory, and production teams to share technical information.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes of equipment or process issues.
- Comfort working with dashboards, reporting tools, and manufacturing software to monitor production.
- Experience contributing to equipment modifications and assisting in the design of new equipment for process improvement.

Work Environment
This position is based in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing facility that operates continuous production and processing equipment. You will work around CNC machines, mill-turns, mills, lathes, grinders, powder presses, robots, vision systems, and PLC-controlled equipment, as well as advanced inspection tools such as Keyence systems, OGP, and optical comparators. The role involves standing for extended periods, moving materials physically or mechanically, and working closely with a team in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
