Cloud & Infrastructure Architect

Overview

The Cloud & Infrastructure Architect is responsible for defining and designing the technical architecture that supports a hybrid infrastructure strategy. This role leads landing zone design, disaster recovery planning, governance standards, and long-term infrastructure vision across cloud and on-premises environments

.This is a senior, hands-on role requiring the ability to independently design complex solutions, build proof-of-concepts in live environments, and collaborate closely with engineering, data, and security teams to translate business needs into scalable, resilient infrastructure

.Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain cloud landing zone architecture, including subscription strategy, network topology, identity and access management (IAM), governance frameworks, and hybrid connectivity (e.g., private networking, VPN, or direct connectivity solutions)
  • .Assess existing cloud environments and lead re-architecture efforts to align with best practices, scalability, and operational maturity goals
  • .Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies for hybrid environments, including failover design, recovery objectives (RPO/RTO), replication strategies, and site recovery solutions. Validate approaches through proof-of-concept implementations prior to production deployment
  • .Establish and enforce infrastructure standards such as naming conventions, tagging strategies, role-based access control (RBAC), network segmentation, and security baselines. Drive adoption across engineering teams
  • .Partner with application, data, security, and DevOps teams to understand roadmaps, gather requirements, and design infrastructure solutions that support growth and performance needs
  • .Translate business requirements into technical architecture, including capacity planning, cost optimization, performance tuning, and compliance alignment with regulatory frameworks
  • .Produce detailed architectural documentation, including network diagrams, data flow diagrams, decision records, and operational runbooks to support implementation and ongoing maintenance
  • .Collaborate with engineering teams to validate architectural designs, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure alignment between design and operational realities
  • .Engage with external vendors and solution providers to evaluate technologies, review proposals, and ensure alignment with architectural standards
  • .Stay current with cloud platform advancements, hybrid architecture patterns, and emerging technologies, making recommendations for adoption where appropriate
  • .Participate in architecture reviews, incident analyses, and change management processes to maintain alignment with defined standards
  • .Support critical infrastructure operations as part of an on-call rotation

.Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, including at least 5 years focused on cloud and hybrid environments
  • .Demonstrated expertise in designing cloud landing zones, hub-and-spoke networking models, and enterprise-scale governance frameworks
  • .Deep knowledge of cloud networking, including private connectivity, routing, network security, and hybrid DNS strategies
  • .Strong experience designing disaster recovery solutions for hybrid systems, including site recovery, failover strategies, and multi-region architectures
  • .Proven ability to define and implement infrastructure governance standards (naming, tagging, RBAC, security baselines) across teams
  • .Hands-on experience building proof-of-concept environments to validate architectural designs
  • .Strong collaboration skills with experience working across cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
  • .Excellent documentation skills, including creating architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and operational guides
  • .Experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) to deploy and manage resources
  • .Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks commonly applied in enterprise environments

.Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications related to IT service management (e.g., ITIL Foundation or higher)
  • .Background in DevOps practices, automation, and CI/CD pipelines
  • .Experience with cloud-native monitoring and observability tools
  • .Knowledge of endpoint management and device provisioning solutions
  • .Experience with identity and access management systems, directory services, and productivity platform administration
