We’re hiring Cloud Architect – Alibaba Cloud in San Jose, CA

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect with deep hands‑on expertise in Alibaba Cloud to design, implement, and optimize cloud‑native solutions for large‑scale, distributed environments. The ideal candidate has strong architectural leadership, a solid understanding of cloud security and governance, and proven experience delivering scalable, resilient cloud platforms on Alibaba Cloud.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Design
- Architect end‑to‑end cloud solutions on Alibaba Cloud, including compute, storage, networking, security, and middleware services.
- Design scalable, highly available, and cost‑optimized cloud architectures aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Develop cloud reference architectures, patterns, and best practices for Alibaba Cloud environments.
Implementation & Delivery
- Lead cloud migration, modernization, and transformation initiatives using Alibaba Cloud services.
- Oversee deployment of cloud infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform, ROS, CloudFormation equivalents).
- Guide engineering teams in implementing cloud‑native applications, microservices, and containerized workloads.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Implement cloud security controls, identity and access management (RAM), network segmentation, and encryption standards.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies, regulatory requirements, and Alibaba Cloud best practices.
- Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and performance optimization.
Operations & Optimization
- Monitor cloud performance, cost, and reliability; recommend improvements and optimizations.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud issues across compute, networking, storage, and application layers.
- Establish operational standards, automation frameworks, and DevOps practices.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or enterprise infrastructure roles.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Alibaba Cloud (ECS, VPC, SLB, OSS, RDS, PolarDB, ACK, RAM, Cloud Firewall, etc.).
- Strong experience designing distributed systems, microservices, and cloud‑native architectures.
- Proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform, Alibaba Cloud ROS, or similar.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking (VPC, VPN, Express Connect, routing, firewalls).
- Experience with Kubernetes (ACK), Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling.
- Solid knowledge of cloud security, IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to lead architecture discussions, produce high‑quality documentation, and influence stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Alibaba Cloud Professional or Expert certifications (ACP/ACE).
- Experience with multi‑cloud or hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Background in large‑scale migrations or modernization programs.
- Experience with big data, analytics, or AI/ML services on Alibaba Cloud.
