Minimum Job Requirements:
Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program in Nursing
Licensed Practical Nurse
Current RN licensure is also acceptable
2-3 years experience Clinical in Nursing
Experience relevant to patient demographics and specific care environment
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with DME and casting in a podiatry or orthopedic setting preferred.
Job Overview:
This position assists physician and/or registered nurse in providing clinical care and/or supervising care delivered by medical assistants and collaborates with physicians and other health care team members in meeting patient/family needs. This position also implements the plan of care by providing direct basic nursing care in accordance with the LPN scope of practice set forth in the Nurse Practice Act and contributes to the evaluation of patient responses to nursing care and documents in an accurate and timely manner. This position will perform all medical procedures ordered by the providers that fall outside the scope of medical assisting. This position will assist with clinical staff training, quality audits and data collection and interpretation as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Employee exhibits dependability in areas such as attendance, punctuality, and timely performance of duties. Demonstrates flexibility and/or initiative in seeking or accepting additional assignments to meet the needs of the department. This includes participation at staff meeting and training required by the department.
Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of in-office care to patients of all ages and demographics according to established department workflows. This includes previsit planning, organization of patient flow, assisting with all special needs, proper documentation of vital signs, labs drawn, and injections given. Demonstrates knowledge of clean and sterile procedures, use of medical equipment within the department. Proper collecting and labeling of specimens. Maintains annual competencies.
Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the treatment area, including shared spaces such as MA/nurse stations, patient restrooms, storage areas and clean and soiled areas. Responsibilities include setting up and cleaning of instruments and equipment according to department protocols, cleaning exam and procedure rooms between patient visits and at the end of the day, restocking exam/treatment areas. Follows appropriate safety standards including OSHA, CLIA, and/or JCAHO. Proper documentation and reporting of any safety incidents.
Participation in appropriate patient education and coordination of care including scheduling follow up appointments, working with RN care coordinators, providing patients with test information or scheduling appointments, and providing MyChart information. This includes timely handling of patient forms and faxes, and all aspects of the in basket including result notes, refills, patient calls, and MyChart requests. Reconcile injection logs, administers controlled injections and follows Coumadin protocol.
Training team members on front and back office procedures and monitoring daily office workflows.
Exhibits professional image and behavior towards patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers. Creates a positive culture consistent with professional etiquette.
