Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse II (Oncology)
Location: Onsite – San Diego, CA
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday (flexible hours; no overtime expected)
Compensation: $150,000 – $250,000 annually
Position Overview:
An oncology research site is seeking an experienced Clinical Research Nurse II to support and help lead oncology clinical trials. This role will function as both a research nurse and team lead, acting as a key clinical and operational partner across research trials.
The Clinical Research Nurse II will serve as a central point of coordination between physicians, clinical research staff, and patients, while also helping bring structure, accountability, and strong clinical judgment to a growing program. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary clinical resource for oncology clinical trials
- Act as a lead nurse and day-to-day resource for research staff, helping guide workflow, answer questions, and support trial execution
- Collaborate closely with a team of physicians, including two primary physician partners, as well as Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs)
- Coordinate and manage patient care within clinical trials, including screening, enrollment, treatment administration support, and follow-up
- Ensure adherence to study protocols, regulatory requirements, and institutional standards, helping reinforce compliance and best practices
- Partner with investigators and study teams to resolve clinical and operational challenges in real time
- Support communication with sponsors, monitors, and internal stakeholders as needed
- Contribute to process improvements and help establish more structured, compliant workflows across the team
- Function in a Research Nurse Case Manager capacity, maintaining continuity of care for study participants
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum of 2+ year of clinical research nursing experience
- Oncology nursing experience required; pancreatic cancer experience strongly preferred
- ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification required or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe
- Experience supporting clinical trials, including patient management and protocol adherence
- Comfortable working closely with physicians in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Academic medical center experience is a plus, but not required
