Description
Food for thought.
Food is more than nourishment.
In the right hands, it is medicine, strength, connection, and healing.
At QLI, individuals recovering from life-changing brain and spinal cord injuries are working hard every day to rebuild their lives. Their recovery requires advanced rehabilitation, compassionate clinical teams, and thoughtful care in every aspect of daily life — including nutrition.
QLI is seeking a dietitian who understands the powerful role nutrition plays in healing and recovery. This leader will guide the nutritional care of clients while working with the dietary teams responsible for food preparation, safety, and nutrition education across the campus.
Working alongside interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams, this position ensures that nutrition supports recovery, strengthens health, and empowers each person to regain independence.
At QLI, meals are more than part of a care plan, they are moments of connection, comfort, and normalcy that support neurorecovery. Clients come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and you will help create a menu that reflects diversity of taste while honoring individual preferences. From therapeutic diets to everyday meals, food should do more than support recovery—it should be something clients look forward to, a shared experience that brings people together.
A successful candidate will:
- Conduct individualized nutrition assessments for all clients upon admission, quarterly, annually, and as requested by case managers with accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Develop therapeutic diet plans and clinical nutrition recommendations based on each client's diagnosis, recovery goals, and changing clinical condition
- Provide individualized nutrition counseling to clients and their families on therapeutic or modified diets
- Develop nutrition education materials and programming that supports recovery, independence, and long-term health
- Serve as a clinical resource and collaborative partner within QLI's interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
- Partner with nursing to monitor monthly weight trends and initiate interventions as needed
- Design and maintain cycle menus that meet regulatory requirements while reflecting client cultural backgrounds, individual preferences, and therapeutic needs
