Job Title: On-Call Clean Room Technician (Project-Based)

Job Description

This project-based, on-call Clean Room Technician role supports a large, high-profile manufacturing facility in Nevada. You will work onsite approximately 50 hours per week over 5–6 days, performing a wide variety of clean room, decontamination, and material handling tasks. The work is hands-on and physically demanding, and it changes frequently based on immediate site needs. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to critical operations within a controlled clean room environment over a project funded for up to nine months, reviewed quarterly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of clean rooms and controlled manufacturing areas to maintain strict cleanliness and contamination control standards.
  • Scrub and vacuum floors to ensure dust, debris, and contaminants are removed from all designated areas.
  • Wipe and sanitize walls, surfaces, and equipment in accordance with site procedures and clean room protocols.
  • Clean elevated and hard-to-reach areas using manlifts and other approved equipment, following all safety requirements.
  • Support battery shredding operations through safe material handling, including moving, staging, and assisting with processing activities as directed.
  • Conduct material pulls and sort usable materials according to site guidelines and project requirements.
  • Perform decontamination ("decon") activities in designated areas, following detailed safety and procedural instructions.
  • Enter confined spaces, such as tanks and enclosed areas, to perform cleaning tasks after receiving the required training and clearance.
  • Operate enclosed tools and cleaning equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Follow detailed safety, site, and clean room protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and respirators.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and site personnel to complete a wide variety of cleaning and project tasks as needs change.
  • Adapt quickly to changing daily assignments, which may range from confined space work on one shift to general floor, wall, and surface cleaning on another.
  • Maintain strong attendance, arrive on time for all scheduled shifts, and remain flexible to accommodate varying scopes of work.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding task status, issues, and any safety concerns that arise during work.

Essential Skills

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain respirator clearance and complete respirator training.
  • Ability to successfully complete a 7-year check.
  • Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen.
  • Demonstrated reliability and dependability, including consistent on-time attendance.
  • High level of adaptability and comfort with frequently changing tasks and priorities.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding, hands-on work.
  • Ability to follow detailed safety procedures, site protocols, and clean room standards.
  • Comfort working in confined spaces and elevated areas after appropriate training.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy, operational environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in clean room environments, industrial cleaning, or manufacturing is a plus but not required.
  • Comfort working with uncertainty and variable scopes of work from shift to shift.
  • Respectful, team-oriented approach when working alongside site operations and other technicians.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMP) is beneficial.
  • Experience using manlifts or other elevated work platforms is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks and report issues promptly.

Work Environment

You will work onsite at a large manufacturing facility in Nevada, primarily within clean rooms and controlled manufacturing environments. The role involves frequent work in confined and enclosed spaces, such as non-chemical tanks and other restricted areas, with all required training provided. You will also perform elevated work using manlifts and enclosed tools, following strict safety and clean room protocols. This is not a remote position; all work takes place at the facility. The typical staffing model includes approximately four technicians working around 50 hours per week each, with headcount increasing to five or six technicians during periods of high demand. The schedule generally spans 5–6 days per week, with changes in staffing and workload communicated in advance when possible.
