Entry Level Cleanroom Production Operator - 1st & 2nd Shift - Sorrento Valley

Job Description

The Cleanroom Production Operator works in the cartridge department within an ISO Class 8 cleanroom, assembling medical device cartridges on a manufacturing line. In this role, you operate and monitor semi-automated equipment, perform inspections, support sub-assembly and welding activities, and complete testing processes as part of a collaborative production team. You follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain accurate batch records and documentation using computer-based systems, and help ensure a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble cartridges on a manufacturing line while meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to complete assemblies and support overall line performance.
  • Monitor and operate semi-automated manufacturing processes according to SOPs and work instructions.
  • Rotate and work within multiple production lines, including inspections, running automated machines, sub-assembly and welding, and testing.
  • Review batch records and production documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Use computer-based systems for training, documentation, and production-related tasks.
  • Follow cleanroom protocols and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Adapt to changing priorities and support different departments or buildings as production needs shift.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic to support continuous operations.
  • Participate in cross-training to learn new tasks and support various production functions as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience following work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in any industry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly or medical device assembly.
  • Experience with inspection, packaging, or other GMP-regulated production environments.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom production practices.
  • Openness to cross-training in different departments and learning new processes.
  • Ability to move between different buildings or departments as business needs require.
  • Comfort working overtime when needed to support high production demand.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership for work quality.

Work Environment

This role is based in the cartridge department within an ISO Class 8 cleanroom, where production volume and pace are expected to increase. Work is performed on a manufacturing line with semi-automated equipment, and employees may be reassigned to other departments or a nearby building, approximately 2.5 miles away, depending on workload and business needs. Flexibility with work location, tasks, and overtime is important, as operations are projected to remain very busy for at least the next 15 months. The cleanroom environment requires strict adherence to dress and hygiene standards, including wearing designated PPE such as hair covers, lab coats or gowns, and gloves; following handwashing and glove-use protocols; and avoiding fragrances, makeup, lipstick, and fake or acrylic nails. Pants are required (no leggings or shorts), necklaces must be tucked into shirts, and glasses must have side shields. The primary shift runs Monday through Thursday from 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and the work involves standing, moving between stations, and focusing on detailed tasks throughout the shift.

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $17.75/hr.
