Job Title: Janitor / Custodian
Job Description

This role provides essential cleaning and basic maintenance services to keep the facility clean, safe, and in orderly condition. You will perform daily cleaning of offices, restrooms, and common areas, support internal office moves and cubicle setup, and assist with general building maintenance tasks to ensure efficient building operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning of the building, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures, and restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and tissue.
  • Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recycling from offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Stock, unpack, and receive cleaning and maintenance supplies and ensure they are stored in an organized and safe manner.
  • Support internal office moves and relocations, including tearing down and building office cubicles and moving furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Perform general building maintenance tasks such as building start-up and shut-down routines, minor electrical tasks, and minor plumbing tasks within skill and safety limits.
  • Replace light bulbs and light fixtures as needed to maintain proper lighting throughout the facility.
  • Carry out general building clean-up, including interior and exterior areas such as entrances, walkways, and common spaces.
  • Handle interior and exterior recycling duties, ensuring materials are collected, sorted, and placed in appropriate containers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on industrial cleaning equipment to keep it in safe working condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while using cleaning chemicals, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain a consistent, reliable presence on-site and communicate any building issues, repair needs, or supply shortages promptly.
  • Assist with other building maintenance needs as assigned to support efficient and safe building operations.
Essential Skills
  • General experience with industrial cleaning equipment and the ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Knowledge of basic manual work techniques related to cleaning and light maintenance.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move 50 to 100 pounds as part of daily duties.
  • Strong reliability and good attendance, with a positive and cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to perform routine janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and trash removal.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of related experience required.
  • 1+ year of janitorial, cleaning, or housekeeping experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Floor care experience, such as stripping, waxing, buffing, or burnishing floors, is a plus.
  • Experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities support environments is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with basic hand tools and simple maintenance tasks (minor electrical and plumbing) is helpful.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, orderly environment for building occupants.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site role with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work throughout the facility, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and some exterior spaces. The position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as regular use of industrial cleaning equipment and tools. You will handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines and may occasionally work in tight or elevated spaces when changing lights or performing minor maintenance. The work environment is professional and facilities-focused, where practical, clean, and safe attire suitable for physical work and use of cleaning equipment is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tomahawk, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
