Community Resources Inc. (CRI) is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit that has served the students, staff and families of Denver Public Schools since 1972. Our mission is to enhance learning and academic success by providing programs for students and their families using volunteers and partners from the community who share their skills, expertise, and enthusiasm. The organization’s goals are to utilize the talents of community members to increase students’ knowledge, to strengthen the partnership between schools and families, and to provide new opportunities for students to learn. Our objective is to help students reach their individual potential for academic success.  


The Classroom Speakers Program is at the core of the work of CRI, and has grown from 10 presenters in 1972 to over 450 programs/presenters in 2026. This database resource is available to teachers at member schools throughout the school district. The teacher/school requests a program and then the program coordinator handles the scheduling, confirmation, evaluation, etc. for each request. 


Position Details


This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hours/week) and follows the Denver Public Schools teacher calendar, with a work schedule running from mid-August through the end of May. As a small non-profit organization, CRI does not offer employee benefits.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Coordinate 150-200 programs per school year
  • Recruit and onboard new presenters
  • Schedule presenters
  • Communicate with schools and presenters (dates, schedule, set up requirements, payment)


Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong event planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Proficiency in Google Workplace and Microsoft Office 
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Database experience


Additional Responsibilities/Skills


Because we’re a small team, collaboration is key and staff often contribute across programs. Examples of support tasks may include:

  • Social media - graphic design, photo editing and writing content for social media posts
  • Fundraising - support fundraising efforts with email campaigns, website updates
  • Newsletter creation - graphic design, layout, writing and proof reading
  • Basic website maintenance skills - Squarespace
  • Artistic Creativity – research/develop art projects for Art Days
  • Special Events – assist with coordination and staffing of events
  • Technology – ability to troubleshoot


Plus Skills


  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience working with children
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Familiarity with school and community groups in Denver Metro area
  • Strong networking skills
