Job Title: Civil Project Manager
Job Description
The Civil Project Manager leads the civil engineering department with a focus on land development and site design projects. This role combines senior-level technical leadership, project management, client communication, and business development. The Civil Project Manager oversees engineers, ensures high-quality design deliverables, and supports the financial performance of projects and the office, while working in a flexible hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the civil engineering department with a focus on land development and site design projects.
- Provide senior-level technical guidance to engineers and project teams throughout all phases of design and delivery.
- Oversee the preparation and review of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Direct and oversee the civil division for the Philadelphia area, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage and mentor engineers, providing direction, feedback, and support to promote technical growth and high performance.
- Lead client communication, serving as a primary point of contact to address project needs, expectations, and progress updates.
- Support and participate in business development activities, including maintaining existing client relationships and helping to secure new projects.
- Review, develop, and approve design fee proposals for new projects, ensuring they align with scope, schedule, and resource needs.
- Understand and support the billing processes for projects, including monitoring project budgets, invoices, and financial performance.
- Contribute to the overall financial performance of the office by managing project profitability and resource allocation.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure that civil design integrates effectively with other project components.
- Utilize Civil 3D and related design tools to oversee civil design, land development, stormwater management, and site planning efforts.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in the consulting engineering industry.
- Proven experience in land development and site design projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineers and leading project teams.
- Strong background in project management within civil engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania (PA) required.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design, including site development and stormwater management.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design and site planning.
- Ability to oversee and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and deliverables.
- Experience in client communication and relationship management.
- Experience in business development within a consulting environment.

Work Environment
The role operates in a hybrid work environment, with three days in the office and two days working from home each week. The position is based in an established engineering organization with multiple offices nationwide and a dedicated civil division. The Civil Project Manager works in a professional office setting using tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil design software to support land development, site design, and stormwater management projects. The environment encourages collaboration, technical excellence, and leadership in running the civil department.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $190000.00/yr.
