About the Role:The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for GDOT within Development Services and the Technical Review Committee (TRC). This role involves performing technical and professional engineering work related to the review of site plans, subdivision plans, construction plans, group developments, and building plans for new development projects.
You will collaborate with developers, consulting engineers, attorneys, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable Department, City, State, and Federal regulations, standards, and policies.
Additional responsibilities include managing GDOT’s Right of Way encroachment agreements and assisting with the administration of the City's Traffic Impact Study (TIS) ordinance. Must have strong computer proficiency; clear and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to perform complex engineering calculations; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to conduct technical research and interpret complex data and ability to read and understand engineering plans and reports.
Key responsibilities include:- Review development plans including site, subdivision, and construction plans
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and regulations
- Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Manage GDOT’s Right of Way encroachment agreements
- Assist with Traffic Impact Study (TIS) ordinance administration
- Conduct technical analysis and engineering computations
- Interpret engineering plans, specifications, and reports
- Perform GIS analysis using ESRI ArcMap
- Present and represent GDOT at public meetings and boards

- Bachelor's Degree with1-3 years of experience reading and interpreting engineering site plans, specifications and technical reports
- “OR”anAssociate's Degree with 5–7 years of experience reading and interpreting engineering site plans, specifications and technical reports
- Valid Driver's License
- Experience using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- 1+ years of experience with engineering principles and practices using AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, High Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual
- Engineering Intern (EI) certificate (“OR”ability to obtain within 1 year of employment)
- 1+ years of experience with Adobe or Blubeam pdf softwares
- 1+ years of experience with ArcGIS
