Position Summary
Vanguard Energy Partners is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to support the development and execution of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role will support civil engineering design, site development, permitting coordination, and construction activities throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy projects.
This position is ideal for a junior to mid-level engineer looking to grow within the renewable energy industry and gain exposure to large-scale EPC project execution. Utility-scale solar experience is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support civil engineering design for utility-scale solar and BESS projects
- Assist in the preparation and review of:
- Grading and drainage plans
- Stormwater management designs
- Erosion and sediment control plans
- Access road and site layout designs
- Utility and underground infrastructure plans
- Civil drawing sets, civil studies
- Coordinate with internal engineering, project management, environmental, and construction teams
- Support permitting efforts and coordination with local municipalities, agencies, and AHJs
- Review survey data, geotechnical reports, hydrology reports, and civil design documents
- Assist with site feasibility studies and constructability reviews
- Support field engineering and construction activities as needed
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and project specifications
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering efforts, and technical problem-solving
- Assist with document control, as-built documentation and project closeout activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- 2–6 years of civil engineering experience
- Land development, infrastructure, or renewable energy experience preferred
- Utility-scale solar experience preferred
- Understanding of: Site grading and drainage, Stormwater management, Civil/site development design and Construction practices and sequencing.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software
- Knowledge of permitting processes and environmental compliance preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- EIT certification preferred
- Experience supporting EPC or renewable energy projects
- Familiarity with hydrology/hydraulic modeling software is a plus
- Experience coordinating with subcontractors and field teams preferred
