Position Summary

Texell Credit Union is seeking an experienced, energetic, and forward-thinking Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to safeguard and strengthen the organization’s long-term health. This role is responsible for leading enterprise risk management, regulatory relationships, compliance, and legal affairs, while ensuring policy changes are effectively communicated across all departments. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the CRO will act as the primary liaison for state regulatory examinations and supervisory correspondence. The role also includes monitoring regulatory and legislative developments while advising the CEO and Board of Directors on emerging risks and appropriate responses. As a trusted advisor, the CRO will work closely with the executive team and Board while partnering collaboratively with all lines of business to promote a strong, risk-aware culture throughout the organization. A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in financial services, with significant experience in risk management, compliance, legal, or human resources functions. A bachelor’s degree is required; a Juris Doctor (JD) or other advanced degree is valued but not required. Experience with BSA/AML compliance, including serving in a Bank Secrecy Act Officer function, is highly desirable, as is government affairs or legislative advocacy experience at the state or federal level.
